2004 USFTL Nationals

ORLANDO, FL - After a dissapointing loss in the championship game at last years USFTL Nationals, we had only one goal in mind this year, which was to bring home a national title, and that's just what we did.

In the opening day of the tournament, we won three crucial games, including a 4OT victory over Red Zone/Public House (Cleveland, OH), to set the tone for the tournament. Day two of the tournament proved to be a challenge, as 3 Brothers (Baltimore, MD) gave us all we could handle. They scored with just over a minute remaining in the game to take a 15-14 lead, but left us with just enough time to drive down the field to get into field goal range. With 3 seconds left on the clock, Jason Moore kicked a 45 yard field goal to win the game and carry us to the next round.

On the final day of the tournament, we came out on fire, defeating C.O. (Columbus, OH) 23-6 in the winners bracket championship game. In the championship game, we found ourselves matched up with a familiar foe, Red Zone/Public House, who worked their way back all the way through the losers bracket. On the first play of the game, QB A.J. Saul was injured after taking a hit to the ribs. Nick Leiter took the helm, leading our offense right down the field, connecting on a 45 yard pass to Jason Hagerty, and running for another long gain to put us into scoring position. Saul came back into the game minutes later, and finished with 3 passing TD's. It was our defense that stepped it up when it counted most, holding Red Zone/Public house on a crucial 4th down conversion to seal the game with a 20-19 victory, which give us our first national title.
