Youngstown 8man Fall League |

| YOUNGSTOWN,
OH - This 2005 fall season proved to be the
most challenging for the Devils. As they look to improve each
year, so did every other team that looked to dethrone them. The
Devils played most of the year as the team to beat, but a close
week 4 loss to the Roth Gators dropped the team to 2nd place
in the league standings. With the strength of their schedule
ahead of them, the Devils buckled down and won the remainder
of their games to finish in 2nd place leading into the playoffs.
With a rematch with #3 seed Dona Vitos, the Devils looked for
a repeat performance of week 6 when they strived on big plays
and tremendous pressure. Although the score didn't dictate it,
the Devils broke the game open when Clyde Morgan returned a kickoff
for a TD late in the 1st half to regain momentum after a long
scoring drive by Dona Vitos and finish with a 22-10 victory.
With the Roth Gators winning their semi-final game, the stage
was set for the two best teams to square off for the championship.
The story of this game was the efficiency of the Devils offense.
The Devils were unstoppable as A.J.
Saul connected on three TD's while running one in himself.
However, on the defensive side of the ball the Devils used a
variety a coverages and blitzes to throw off the timing of quarterback
Sean Wardle and the Gators offense. With a 30-12 victory and
their 4th straight league title, continue to watch for the Devils
to stay hungry in a quest for a 5th title next season. |
