The
Devils traveled to Michigan with one goal in mind, to
be crowned state champions of both 4man and 8man. In
the 8man tournament on Saturday the Devils came out firing
on all cylinders as they dominated their first opponent
32-0. The Devils next two opponents, RC Sports and Downriver
Raiders proved to be more of a challenge. Turnovers and
missed opportunities kept the games close but wasn't
enough to upset the Devils as they moved on to the winners
bracket championship game. The next game pitted the Devils
with one of their Ohio rivals, Red Zone. The Devils dominated
the game early as they went up 13-0, but costly mistakes
kept Red Zone in the game as they were able to tie the
score at 13 with under a minute remaining. A.J.
Saul drove the Devils offense down the field
and into field goal range. With 6 seconds remaining Jake
Stewart kicked yet another game winning field goal
to preserve the Devils victory and move them into the
championship game. The Devils met up with Red Zone once
again but this time the Devils played mistake-free as
they took home the Michigan State Title with a 19-3 victory.

In
the 4man tournament on Sunday the Devils started out
much the same way as they did on Saturday as they went
undefeated on pool play to earn the #2 seed going in
to the single-elimination playoff. The game of the day
was in the semi-finals as the Devils were matched up
against Buckwild (Miami, FL). Buckwild was able to jump
out to an early 7-0 and a late touchdown just before
halftime put them up 13-0. The Devils opened up the second
half determined to make a comeback and that's just what
they did as they scored early to make the score 13-7.
The Devils scored again with under a minute remaining
and converted the extra point to take a 14-13 lead. Buckwild
then drove down the field and inside the Devils 5-yard
line. On 3rd and goal with 7 seconds remaining, the Devils
defense came up with a huge stop to preserve the victory
and move on to the championship game. The Devils then
met up with the Smooth Criminals in a rematch of the
championship games of both the YFFA.net summer cash tournament
and the Detroit Sports Club 4man cash tournament. The
Devils were in control the entire game as they defeated
the Smooth Criminals 27-13 and improve their record to
11-0 on the weekend.
